Welding relies on heat to join and fuse metal parts together harmoniously so they become one.

Why does my vehicle corrode?

Through oxidisation the chemical reaction that occurs when iron interacts with water and air creates corrosion, regular exposure to water and moisture from the road speeds up this process and is ignition to start metal surfaces within your vehicle to rot and deteriorate. The following are the most common exposure points which we can help repair rather than replace with parts, through welding

Exhausts

Exhausts, welding a patch or sleeve can be a quick solution to repairing a hole in a blowing exhaust. This remedy prevents sections of the exhaust being replaced saving on time and parts expense.

Door sills

Door sills, exposed to the dirt, grime and water from the road overtime if left untreated in older vehicles can corrode, rot and deteriorate. Sections can be replaced or new sills welded, preserving jacking points and structural integrity.

Arches

Arches, road grime, moisture and water can accumulate between the wheel arch, plastic liner and your vehicles body panel, over time this can corrode eating the metal away, these areas can be cut away and repaired with welding.

Why doesn’t every garage do welding?

Welding requires a high level of professional skill as well as specialised equipment. We have both the expertise and the equipment to carry out this work, but we are fortunate—many other garages simply aren’t able to offer it.

Will I need welding done on my vehicle?

Most modern vehicles never need welding work carried out. Over time, the quality of metal used in vehicle manufacturing has improved, resulting in less corrosion. However, we still see older vehicles requiring welding, as well as vehicles that have been used in more corrosive environments, such as coastal areas.

How much would it costs to get welding done?

On the whole, welding is very time-consuming. It is usually required when the existing metal has corroded away. To ensure a successful repair, all corroded material must be removed first, which can take a significant amount of time. We aim to keep things as simple as possible. We charge an hourly rate for welding work, which includes all required materials. If you would like a specific estimate for your vehicle, please either send us photos of the work needed or bring the vehicle in. The more information we have, the more accurate we can make the estimate.
