My car is making a funny noise over bumps, what is wrong with it?
This could be caused by many different things. The majority of suspension systems are made from metal, with rubber bushes connecting the metal parts together. Over time, these parts can wear out. Even brakes can sometimes cause unusual noises. Suspension systems work hardest over large bumps, which is why the noise often only occurs in those situations.
Why would my suspension wear out?
The main reason is wear. When a vehicle is in use, the suspension is constantly moving and working, which causes the rubber parts to wear out. Metal parts can also weaken or corrode, and plastic parts can become hard and brittle. Even if a vehicle isn’t in use, the parts still age, so wear will occur over time.
